Biography
Nyia, a Polish band from Olsztyn, was formed in December 1999. The group initially consisted of guitarist JarosÅaw âChinaâ Åabieniec, drummer Wojciech SzymaÅski, and guitarist Szymon Czech. Their first release was the demo Nospromo 2000. In 2001, Nyia recorded their debut album, Head Held High, which was released in 2004 under Candlelight Records after signing a contract in January of that year. The band's lineup evolved over time, with notable members including vocalist Bogdan Kondracki and bassist Piotr Bartczak. In 2007, Nyia released the album More Than You Expect through Shane Emburyâs label FETO Records, featuring Jakub Leonowicz on vocals. They also collaborated with Antigama for a split release titled Antigama / Nyia. The band embarked on tours and gained recognition for their unique blend of grindcore, jazzcore, and avant-garde death metal. Nyia announced their disbandment in early 2008.
