Biography

Oceans Ate Alaska is a British metalcore band formed in 2010 in Birmingham, England. Their members include Chris Turner, James Kennedy, Mike Stanton, and Joel Heywood. Their debut recordings include the EP Taming Lions (2011) and the EP Into the Deep (2012). In 2014, the group signed with Fearless Records and released their debut album, Lost Isles (2015). Subsequent recordings include the albums Hikari (2017) and Disparity (2022). Vocalist James Harrison left the group in 2016 and was replaced by Jake Noakes in 2017. Harrison returned to the group in 2020 for the single “Metamorph” (2020) but left again in 2024 to be replaced by lead vocalist Joel Heywood.
