Biography
Nyamari Ongegu, known professionally as Nyashinski, is a Kenyan rapper, singer and songwriter. Born on April 8, 1984, Ongegu attended Nairobi School, where he met Roba and Collo to form the hip-hop trio Kleptomaniax in 1999. The group released their debut track âFreak Itâ in 2002 and the hit single âTuendeleeâ in 2004 before going on hiatus in 2009. After spending ten years in the United States, Ongegu returned to Kenya in 2016 and made a comeback with the single âNow You Knowâ, followed by the award-winning single âMalaikaâ in 2017 and his debut solo album Lucky You in 2020. He also released the single âPerfect Designâ (2023), followed by the EP Good Old Days (2024). In 2025, Ongegu released the EP To Whom It May Concern and his sophomore album Yariasu after signing with Sony Music East Africa.
