Biography

NST & The Soul Sauce is a South Korean reggae band formed in 2014, known for their distinctive fusion of Jamaican genres like reggae and dub with elements of jazz, afrobeat, funk, soul, and psychedelic sounds, combined with traditional Korean music, especially pansori. The band's name stems from the initials of its leader, Noh Sun-teck, who initially began the project as a solo endeavor before gathering other talented musicians. Members of NST & The Soul Sauce come from prominent South Korean bands such as Windy City, Kiha and the Faces, Kingston Rudieska, and I&I Djangdan, giving them "supergroup" status. Their music has garnered critical acclaim for its innovative sound and cultural fusion. The band gained international attention at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, notably with their tribute to legendary trombonist Rico Rodriguez. NST & The Soul Sauce have performed across the globe, including in China, Japan, the United States, Colombia, and Chile, opening for reggae icons like Lee "Scratch" Perry. They also made headlines for performing at a political rally during the impeachment of South Korean president Park Geun-hye in 2016. Their discography includes albums like Back When Tigers Smoked (2016) and NST & The Soul Sauce meets Kim Yul Hee – Version (2019), continuing their global musical journey.
