Biography

Panagiotis "Notis" Sfakianakis, born on November 2, 1959, in Greece, is a singer known for his contributions to folk, pop and rock music genres. After his parents' divorce, he moved to the island of Kos with his mother and later spent time in Germany before returning to Crete. Sfakianakis began his career in 1985 by opening for national acts like Poly Panou, but it was his discovery by Kostas Bourmas of Sony Greece that marked a significant breakthrough. His debut album Proti Fora (First Time) released in 1991 and became a Greek top ten hit. Sfakianakis' subsequent releases such as Eisai Ena Pistoli (1992), Notioanatolitika Tou Kosmou (1994), which included the acclaimed single "O Aetos" (The Eagle), and 5o Vima (1996) solidified his status in the Greek music industry. The latter album is recognized as one of the best-selling albums of all time in Greece, with over 200,000 copies sold. He also released notable EPs including Pro-Dia-Fimin and Around the World, and live albums like XXX Enthimion. His music career was marked by significant commercial success in the 1990s, earning him the title of best-selling artist of that decade. Throughout his career, Sfakianakis has sold over five million records.
