Biography

Napoleón Nelson Pinedo Fedullo, known as Nelson Pinedo, was born on February 10, 1928, in Barranquilla, Colombia. He began his career as a singer after working various jobs and training as a radio announcer. His breakthrough came when he joined Julio Lastra's group and later collaborated with Pacho Galán and his orchestra. In the mid-1950s, Pinedo gained international recognition by joining La Sonora Matancera, where he recorded hits such as "Momposina" and "El Ermitaño." He also starred in the 1955 Cuban film Una gallega en la Habana. Throughout his career, Pinedo released notable albums, including ¿Quién será? (1962). His collaborations extended to artists like Pacho Galán and orchestras led by Antonio María Peñaloza and Chucho Sanoja. Pinedo passed away on October 27, 2016, in Valencia, Venezuela.
