Biography

Steeped in the roots of both traditional Celtic music and the great Nashville songwriters, Nathan Carter's classic style of wholesome, pop entertainment has been dubbed 'country and Irish' and taken him from playing to handfuls of people in pubs to sold-out gigs at the London Palladium. Born in Liverpool, he started playing the accordion at the age of four and grew up listening to his father's Johnny Cash and Hank Williams records and soaking up his mother's Irish heritage by spending his summers in Donegal. Leaving school at 16, he worked on building sites and cut his teeth playing working men's clubs before moving over to Ireland two years later and releasing his debut album 'Starting Out' in 2007. Steadily building his profile with endless gigs and tours, his big break came when his version of Old Medicine Crow's track 'Wagon Wheel' became a surprise hit and topped the Irish Charts in 2012. Albums 'Where I Wanna Be', 'Beautiful Life' and 'Stayin' Up All Night' also reached number one in Ireland and Carter gradually became recognised as a clean-cut pop favourite whose crooning country ballads and upbeat acoustic strum-alongs drew a broad audience. He went on to host his own variety show on RTE television on which he performed with KT Tunstall, Finbar Furey and Billy Ocean, before releasing his ninth studio album 'Livin' the Dream' in 2017.
