Biography

Declan O'Rourke is an Irish singer-songwriter born in Dublin in 1976. Since beginning his career in 2004, he has captivated audiences with his heartfelt lyrics and melodies, often leaning on elements folk and rock with a Celtic influence deeply influenced by his Irish heritage. His career took off with the release of his debut album, Since Kyabram (2004), which garnered critical acclaim for its intimate songwriting and melodic richness. Over the years, he has continued to release well-received albums such as Big Bad Beautiful World (2007), Gold Bars in the Sun (2015), and Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine (2017), a powerful project that explores the stories and struggles of the historic Irish Famine. With his poetic lyrics and rich, evocative performances, Declan O'Rourke has earned a reputation as one of Ireland's most gifted contemporary songwriters. His work has attracted international recognition, and he remains a beloved figure in the Irish music scene, known for his sincerity, depth, and commitment to telling stories through song. His Arrivals album came in 2021 and a new version of "After the Rain" in 2022, recorded as a Black Barn Studio Outtake.
