Biography
Moonstar88, a Filipino rock band formed in Manila, Philippines in 1999, initially consisted of Herbert Hernandez on lead guitar. The group's early years saw several lineup changes before they released their debut album Popcorn in 2000 under Alpha Music. They gained significant traction with subsequent albums such as Press to Play (2002) and Todo Combo (2007). In 2006, Moonstar88 signed with Sony BMG and later moved to Ivory Music in 2012. Their album, This Year, released in 2012, won the Best Design Packaging Category at the ADOBO Design Awards 2013. The band has also covered notable songs like "Panalangin" by APO Hiking Society and "Senti" by Yano. In early 2015, bassist Paolo Bernaldo left the group to tour with Parokya ni Edgar. Their sixth album, Lourdes 2088, was released in 2023 under Soupstar Music.
