Miranda July, born Miranda Jennifer Grossinger on February 15, 1974 in Barre, Vermont, is an American multimedia artist known for her work as a filmmaker, musician, and writer. She began her artistic journey by creating one-woman performance pieces and participating in the riot grrrl movement. July's music career started with the release of her single "Margie Ruskie Stops Time" in 1996. Her debut album 10 Million Hours a Mile was released in 1997, followed by The BinetâSimon Test in 1998.
