Michael Volek, known professionally as Miki Volek, was born on May 21, 1943, in Uherské HradiÅ¡tÄ, was a Czech rock and roll singer, guitarist, pianist, and composer. He began playing piano, guitar, and drums at a young age and formed the band Crazy Boys in 1960 with a friend. His breakthrough came in January 1963 when Crazy Boys performed at the Palais Lucerna in Prague, earning him over 3000 enthusiastic fans. Volek later joined the band Olympic, achieving success with hits like "Fůra Chyb / Lyrická Ze StÅednÃch Äech" (1965). He left Olympic due to creative differences and collaborated with various artists, including Old Stars and Country Beat. In 1985, Volek released his first solo album, Miki Volek. Miki Volek? Miki Volek!. Despite personal challenges, he continued performing sporadically throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Miki Volek passed away on August 14, 1996. His music was compiled in albums such as Pop Galerie (2008) and To NejlepÅ¡Ã (2010).
