Biography
JiÅà Schelinger, born March 6, 1951, in Bousov, was a rock singer and composer who began his musical journey playing piano and guitar during his youth. His first band, Nothing But Nothing, formed while he was in elementary school in Nusle. Schelinger later joined the blues band The Happy Five, before becoming a member of Faraon, where he recorded his first big hit, the song "Holubà dům", in 1972. In 1973, he joined FrantiÅ¡ek Ringo Äech's band and collaborated on the album Nemám hlas jako zvon (1975). He also released Hrrr na nÄ... (1977), noted as the first hard rock album in the Czech Republic. Schelinger's career included notable singles such as "ProÄ potápÄÄ pláÄe / JabloÅový list" (1974) and "Å vihák lázeÅský" (1976). Other notable albums include BájeÄnà muži (1975) and Nám se lÃbÃâ¦, (1979). On April 13, 1981, Schelinger died in Bratislava.
