Biography

Richard Dennis Duran, known as Lynwood Slim, was born on August 19, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, an American blues harmonica player and singer. He began playing harmonica at age 15, influenced by Jimmy Reed and Little Walter. Slim started his music career in the Los Angeles scene before moving to Minneapolis in 1974, where he won awards for best blues band in 1986. He later collaborated with Junior Watson and alumni of the Hollywood Fats Band. Slim released several solo albums, including Soul Feet (1996), Lost in America (1997), World Wide Wood (2000), Last Call (2006), Brazilian Kicks (2010), and Hard to Kill (2014). Slim's health declined in 2011 due to hepatitis C and liver cirrhosis. He suffered a stroke in July 2014 and passed away on August 4, 2014.
