Biography

Mike Pender's Searchers is a British musical group formed in England. Mike Pender co-founded The Searchers in Liverpool in 1959 before leaving in December 1985 to form his own band and explore new musical directions while preserving the classic 12-string guitar style he helped popularize. Mike Pender's Searchers began touring in the late 1980s and released the debut album That Was Then This Is Now. The group performed live, using custom-built lighting and sound equipment, and featuring Pender's iconic 12-string Rickenbacker guitar. Notable performances included being the first 1960s band invited to play on board the QE2 for its 25th anniversary in 1994. Other notable album releases included Mike Pender's Searchers and Sweets for My Sweet.
