Biography

Joris van Rossem, known professionally as Metejoor, was born in Duffel, Belgium on 4 January 1991 and raised in the town of Vosselaar. Thanks to a fortuitous meeting with producer Hans Francken at The Voice of Flanders, on which his sister Lisa was performing as a contestant, he was soon drawn into the world of music and signed a recording contract with Dutch/Belgium label CNR Records. He scored success with his debut reggaeton-tinged single "I Love You" in 2016, which was made in collaboration with Spanish-speaking singer Daniel López, and released several other singles over the next few years including "You do not have to be scared", which peaked at number 10 in the Flemish Top 30 in 2018, and a Flemish-Spanish song he recorded with Dutch singer Sarita Lorena called Boeit me geen/No me importa, also released in 2018. Continuing to rack up radio hits with his singles, in 2020 he experienced his first major commercial breakthrough with the release of the single "Het beste aan mij (ben jou)", which earned him a nomination for the main prize at the Radio 2 Summer hit 2020. He recorded the COVID-19 solidarity anthem "Laat Het Voor De Liefde His" during the first lockdown and released his debut self-titled album arrived in 2021. The following year he paired up with Hannah Mae for collaborative single "Wat Wil Je Van Mij".
