Biography

Gene Thomas (born on August 22, 1972) is one of the most prominent artists in the Belgian music scene. After releasing the album Always on the run with pop rock outfit Ship of Dreams in 1993, he then joined Gina Blondeel to form the dance music duo X-Session. The group was together for a total of 7 years, releasing a string of hit songs such as “Say Yeah,” “On and On,” and “Baby It’s You.” In 2003, he made the decision to start singing exclusively in Dutch. His first single was “Voor haar,” a song dedicated to his wife Kristel Verbeke from the band K3. The song achieved Number 1 in the Flemish Top 10 and was eventually certified gold. He would release his first solo album, Dichterbij, which reached Number 3 in the Flemish charts. Balance, his second album, came out in 2005 and also reached the top 10. Between 2007 and 2009, he became a presenter for music channels TMF Vlaanderen and Anne, further cementing his career in Belgian TV. He joined X-Session for one last hurrah in 2009, releasing the hit singles “Automatic” and “Come Together” in 2011 before finally disbanding in 2012. In subsequent years, he acted in the crime TV series Aspe and continued working as a presenter for music television channels.
