Biography

Fama is a Regional Mexican and Tejano band from Houston, Texas established in 1989. The group was founded by the brothers Javier, Oscar, and Edgar Galvan and their friend Eddie Gonzalez. They reached wider visibility in the mid-1990s with a string of hit studio recordings released through the Sony Discos. Their recording career included the debut studio recording Amor, Amor, Amor (1989), the studio recording Como Nunca (1992), the studio recording En Grande (1993), and the studio recording Lagrimas de Alegria (1995). Fama reached professional recognition for hit singles including "Lagrimas De Alegria" and "Boulevard De Sueños". The ensemble was awarded a Premio Lo Nuestro for Revelacion Del Año in 1994. In 2007, Javier Galvan won Mejor Vocalista Masculino and the ensemble was named Mejor Grupo Tejano at the Premios de la Musica Latina. Galvan retired from the group in August 2009 and signed over the band name to the musicians John Barraza and Eddie Dominguez. The ensemble signed with the label AMMX Records in 2010 and continued to tour.
