Biography

Maya Vik is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and bass player. She began playing guitar at age 14 and switched to bass two years later. In 1999, Maya joined Furia, an all-female rock band from Bergen, which released two albums and an EP while signed to EMI Germany. After leaving Furia, she became the live bass player for Savoy in 2004 and appeared in the music video for "Whalebone". She then formed Montée with Erlend Mokkelbost and Anders Tjore, releasing Isle of Now in 2009, which won the Norwegian Grammy for Best Pop Group. Maya left Montée in 2012 to pursue a solo career, releasing her debut album Château Faux-Coupe. Her subsequent albums include Bummer Gun (2012), produced by Øyvind Holmboe Basmo and Chris Lie, and Beyond the Basics (2015), which features "Y.M.D. (Young Michael Douglas)"
