Maureen Evans, born on 23 March 1940 in Cardiff, Wales, is a British singer known for her contributions to pop music. She began her career in the mid-1950s after being discovered by musician and impresario Waldini. Her first significant public appearance was as an opening act for Dickie Valentine at the New Theatre in Cardiff in 1955. She signed her first record deal with Embassy Records, a subsidiary of Oriole Records, in 1958. Her debut single featured "Carolina Moon" and "Stupid Cupid", both covers of Connie Francis's hits. In 1960, she released "The Big Hurt", which reached number 26 on the British charts. She continued to release popular songs such as "Love, Kisses and Heartaches" and "Paper Roses". Her cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Like I Do" in 1962 became a significant hit, staying on the charts for 18 weeks and reaching number five in Ireland and seven in New Zealand. She participated in the British selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963 with "Pick the Petals". Her only album, Like I Do, was released that same year. In 1964, she had another UK Top 40 hit with "I Love How You Love Me" and later released singles on CBS Records and Ariola.
