Biography

Matti ja Teppo, a Finnish pop singing duo consisting of brothers Teppo Ilmari Ruohonen and Matti Tapio Ruohonen, were born in Turku, Finland on March 1, 1948 and August 8, 1949, respectively. The duo began performing together as children and studied violin and piano in their hometown. Matti also learned guitar and songwriting, while Teppo focused on lyricism. In 1972, they released their debut self-titled album. They established their own record label, M & T Production, in 1975. Throughout their career, Matti ja Teppo became one of Finland's best-selling artists with numerous hits including "Et voi tulla rajan taa" (1981), "Kissankultaa" (1982), and "Kaiken takana on nainen" (1997). Many of their albums were certified gold and platinum. Notable album releases include Ota kiinni (1975), Cara mia (1976), Ensimmäinen (2001), Yksinoikeudella (2014), and Enemmän (2019).
