Biography

Matthias Akeo Nowak, born on May 19, 1976, in Berlin, Germany, is a jazz musician and bassist. He studied orchestral music and jazz at the Mannheim Conservatory of Music and Queens College in New York. Nowak's breakthrough came when he joined Triosence in 1999, winning the Jugend jazzt competition in 2001. With Triosence, he released several albums, including First Enchantment (2002) and Away for Awhile (2005). In 2017, Nowak left Triosence and was replaced by Omar Rodriguez Calvo. In 2010, he founded Koi Trio and released their self-titled debut album in 2012. Throughout his career, Nowak has collaborated with notable musicians such as John Ruocco, JÃ¼rgen Friedrich, and Dejan Terzic.
