Masters of the Hemisphere, an American indie pop group, was founded by Bren Mead and Sean Rawls. The duo moved to Athens, Georgia, for college where they met Ryan Lewis, who played drums at their first show. Jeff Griggs later replaced Lewis on drums. Their single, "Going On a Trek To Iceland", was released by Kindercore Records in 1997. The band's first full-length album, Masters of the Hemisphere, followed in 1999 on the same label. Adrian Finch joined as a multi-instrumentalist, expanding the group to a four-piece. Subsequent releases included the concept album I Am Not A Freemdoom (2000) and the EP Permanent Stranger (2001). The band disbanded after releasing their well-received 2002 album Protest A Dark Anniversary. In 2011, they reunited to release Maybe These Are The Breaks.
