Biography

Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives is an American country band formed in 2002 by singer, guitarist and mandolinist Marty Stuart, a respected figure on the country and bluegrass scene and former musician to Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash. The band brought together a number of seasoned instrumentalists: Kenny Vaughan on guitar, Harry Stinson on drums and vocal harmonies, and Chris Scruggs on bass and steel guitar, followed by Brian Glenn. Together, they developed a sound both rooted in the classic country tradition and open to rock, gospel and bluegrass influences, underpinned by instrumental virtuosity and tight vocal harmonies. Their discography includes acclaimed albums such as Country Music (2003), Soul's Chapel (2005), Cool Country Favorties (2008), Nashville Vol. 1: Tear the Woodpile Down (2012), Saturday Night / Sunday Morning (2014) and Way Out West (2017), often hailed for their authenticity and inventiveness. Known for their energetic live performances and their complicity. In 2023, the band reunited for the album Altitude.
