Martin Kohlstedt, born on January 24, 1988, in Breitenworbis, Germany, is a composer and record producer known for his work as a pianist. He began studying keyboard at age 13 and later earned his piano diploma. Kohlstedt's breakthrough came with his first solo piano album Tag (2012), followed by Nacht (2014). These albums introduced his modular composition concept, where pieces evolve with each performance. Subsequent releases, including Strom (2017) and Ströme (2019), incorporated electronic elements and collaborations with the Leipziger GewandhausChor. Kohlstedt's live performances are noted for their improvisational nature and emotional depth, earning him invitations to prestigious events such as the EXPO 2015 in Milan and the SXSW Festival in Texas. His album Flur (2020) was recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown and reflects his personal experiences and connection to nature.
