Martik Qarah Khanian, known mononymously as Martik, was born on July 17, 1949, in Abadan, Iran. He began his musical journey at 15 and started performing professionally as a guitarist in Tehran. His breakthrough came with "Chelcheleh," released in early 1975, which he composed for Hassan Shamaizadeh. Martik's debut album Harir was released in 1977, marking the start of his career as a Persian-language singer. He collaborated with notable artists like Googoosh and Hassan Shamaizadeh on various projects including "Sha'er" and "Adam O Havva." After moving to Los Angeles in 1980, Martik released several albums such as Niloofar (1991).
