Biography

Martha is a rock band from Pity Me, County Durham, England, that describes itself as vegan and anarchist. The group consists of J.C. Cairns, Daniel Ellis, Naomi Griffin, and Nathan Stephens-Griffin. They released their self-titled debut EP on Discount Horse and Win Htein Records in 2012. Their first album, Courting Strong, was released by Fortuna Pop! in 2014. The band's second album, Blisters in the Pit of My Heart, followed in 2016. Martha has toured extensively, including appearances at Indietracks Festival (2013) and Glastonbury Festival, as well as supporting acts like Jeff Rosenstock. Their third album, Love Keeps Kicking, was released on Big Scary Monsters in 2019. In 2022, they released their fourth full-length album, Please Don't Take Me Back, on Specialist Subject Records and Dirtnap Records.
