Biography

Marcin Wasilewski is a Polish jazz pianist and composer who has performed since 1993 with bassist Slawomir Kurkiewicz and percussionist Michal Miskiewicz. As the Simple Acoustic Trio, they released the albums 'Komeda' (1995), 'When Will the Blues Leave' (1996), 'Live in Getxo' (2996), 'Habanera' (2000), 'Lyrics' (2001) and 'Trio' (2005). They also collaborated with the late Polish trumpet player Tomasz Stanko on the albums 'Soul of Things' (2001), 'Suspended Night' (2003) and 'Lontano' (2006). They toured America three times and played with many other top artists. Changing their name to the Marcin Wasilewski Trio, they released the album 'Trio' in 2005. 'January' (2008) went to number 21 on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart, 'Faithful' (2011) reached number 14, 'Spark of Life' (2014) number 23 and 'Live' (2018), recorded at the 2016 Middelheim Jazz Festival in Antwerp, peaked at number 15. Their touring schedule in 2019 and 2020 included appearances at venues across Poland plus England, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain and South Korea.
