Manuel GarcÃa Escobar, known professionally as Manolo Escobar, was a Mexican singer. He began his musical training in childhood, learning instruments such as the flute and piano under the guidance of Antonio Manzano. In 1946, he moved to Barcelona with his brothers Baldomero and Salvador, and together they formed Manolo Escobar y sus guitarras. Escobarâs major hits included âEl Porompompero," âMi Carro," and âY viva España." He also appeared as an actor in numerous films. He received several honors, including the Medalla de Plata al Mérito en el Trabajo (1969) and the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en el Trabajo (2011). Manolo Escobar died on October 24, 2013, in Benidorm, Alicante.
