Makuakai "Makua" Rothman, born on June 17, 1984, in Oahu, Hawaii, is an American singer and professional surfer. He began his musical journey in 2012 when a friend encouraged him to pursue music seriously. His debut full-length album, Sound Wave, was released on December 10, 2013, and peaked as Number 1 Billboard Reggae Album on December 28, 2013. Rothman has since released notable singles including "Cry Me An Ocean" (2019), "Real Love" (2020), and "Paradise" (2020). He has toured extensively across the United States, opening for artists such as Matisyahu and Sublime with Rome.
