Biography
Mà iri Morrison is an actress, playwright and singer from the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. A graduate of Glasgow's RCS, she has toured with national and international productions for over 25 years. On the stage, she has worked with the National Theatre of Scotland, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Lyceum Theatre, Traverse Theatre, Theatre gu Leòr and Ãran Mòr. She was nominated for a CATS award in 2022. In addition to her extensive dubbing experience, Mà iri Morrison has appeared in long-running TV series Bannan and Shetland, as well as the film Outlaw King. She received the Gaelic New Playwrights Award in 2017 (Playwrights' Studio Scotland), and her play, Bana-Ghaisgich, was selected for publication in "A Century of Gaelic Drama". In addition, she has written and performed a trilingual, context-sensitive play, Taigh/Ty/Teach. As a singer, Mà iri Morrison has collaborated and recorded with many musicians over the past thirty years, appearing on numerous television music shows. After an initial collaboration with renowned Scottish musician Alasdair Roberts for the album Urstan (2012), the duo reunited in 2025 for the album of traditional songs, Remembered in Exile: Songs and Ballads from Nova Scotia.
