Biography

Cynefin is the stage name of Owen Shiers, a Welsh folk singer-songwriter from the Clettwr Valley. After studying at Bath Spa University, the musician worked on several projects at Bath's Real World Studios, including Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita's 2013 album Clychau Dibon. Since 2017, Owen Shiers has established his career with the release of several singles performed in Welsh. Nominated for the Welsh Folk Awards in 2019 in the Best Solo Artist category, he released his debut album Dilyn Afon in 2020, followed in 2025 by Shimli, ranked 23rd in the UK Folk Albums 40.
