Biography

Magnus R Troy (born Riker Emilio Valencia Ramírez, Esmeraldas, Ecuador, October 2000) emerged from Ecuador’s coastal dancehall circuit in the early 2020s, first gaining traction with collaborations alongside DJ Lalo and scene peers; early uploads like “Guateo” helped establish his voice and energetic patois-inflected delivery on YouTube. By 2022, he was issuing recognizable solo cuts such as “Hoy,” then broke into wider playlists in 2024 with “Mami Ven” alongside Jossimar and DJ Lalo, a track that spread quickly across social media and regional “dancehall ecuatoriano” mixes. In 2025, Magnus R Troy accelerated his release pace: the street-leaning “Dime Ma” with James Valley and Dexxter and the melancholy “Bienvenida al sufrimiento” showcased a darker lyrical color, while “Detona” underlined his club instincts; he continued pairing with frequent collaborators such as Sossa and Jøtta on high-view videos. On September 27, 2025, the artist—then 24, nearing 25—was killed in Quito after a late-night show, an event widely reported in Ecuadorian media and mourned across his community.
