Mae Stephens is a pop singer-songwriter who was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire on 23 March 2003 and rose to fame in 2023 for her single "If We Ever Broke Up," which initially gained traction on TikTok before soaring to number 20 on the UK Singles Chart. Kicking off her career in 2020 with the singles "I Want You to Be Here," "Devil Eyes," and "Infamous Kiss," which she said she wrote during a "dark patch" in her life, the UK native's vocals convey pain, power, and heartbreak all at once. "White Lies" was released in March 2021 followed by her breakthrough hit for EMI, "If We Ever Broke Up," which marked her first outing on a major label.
