Biography

María Belén Fratti Sierra was born on 13 February 1992 in Guatemala City and is a experimental cellist, composer and singer known for her genre‑defying music that blends classical training with ambient, avant‑garde, electronic and improvisational elements. Trained in cello from childhood in a Pentecostal family, she moved to Mexico City in 2015, becoming part of its vibrant experimental and free‑improvising scene and collaborating with artists including Gudrun Gut and Julian Bonequi. She released her solo debut, Pies Sobre La Tierra in 2019, followed by Planos Para Construir (2020), Será Que Ahora Podremos Entendernos (2021) and Se Ve Desde Aquí (2022), each exploring richly textured soundscapes with cello, voice, synths and field recordings. She also collaborates in projects like the duo Titanic and the avant‑music collective Amor Muere. Following a collaboration with La Kriego and Concepción Huerta on III: Paz en las Rupturas, she released her fifth solo album Sentir Que No Sabes in June 2024.
