Biography

Born in Vienna on December 25, 1962, Austrian Christian Fennesz, or Fennesz for short, carries on the tradition of experimentation of the pioneers of krautrock and experimental rock. A guitarist fascinated by synthetic sounds, he collaborated with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Sparklehorse before launching his own career. Fennesz has become a benchmark since his 1997 album Hotel Paral.lel , and crossed paths with David Sylvian on Venice in 2004. In 2010, he recorded Knoxville live, accompanied by David Daniell and Tony Buck. Other collaborations, with Stefan Goldman or Fenn O'Berg, follow between his personal productions: the albums Szampler (2010) and Bécs (2014). In 2015, Fennesz joined forces with Italian duo OZmotic for the AirEffect project. The association is renewed in 2023 on Senzatempo. Meanwhile, the composer records the album It's Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry (2016) with his American counterpart Jim O'Rourke, followed by the solo opuses Agora (2019) and Mosaic (2024).
