Biography
Luminous Orange, an alternative rock band formed in 1992 in Yokohama, Japan, was initially a four-piece girl band led by Rie Takeuchi. Their debut album Vivid Short Trip was released in 1996. In 1998, the band released the Puppy Dog Mail EP, and Takeuchi appeared on Friendly Science Orchestra's Miniature album. By 2002, Luminous Orange had become Rie Takeuchi's solo project with guest musicians. The band played at notable events such as the CMJ Music Marathon in New York and SXSW in Austin, Texas. Their subsequent albums included Sakura Swirl (2007), which featured contributions from various artists including Ian Masters, and Songs of Innocence (2010). The band's seventh studio album, Soar, Kiss the Moon, was released in 2014.
