Biography

Ludwig Nuss, born in 1961 in Germany, is a jazz trombonist who studied at the Cologne University of Music under Jiggs Whigham. He initially worked as a freelance musician in Cologne's studio scene and was part of the SDR Big Band in Stuttgart from 1992 to 1996, before becoming lead trombonist with the WDR Big Band Köln. Nuss has performed with various ensembles, including duos with Michael Abene and trios featuring John Goldsby and Benyamin Nuss. He collaborated extensively as a sideman for international artists like Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Holman, Patti Austin, and Frank Foster. His recorded work includes albums like Night Over Lake Tarawera (2009), Hornplayers - Fifty/Fifty (2011), and The Party’s Over (2014). Nuss also taught at the Jazz-Institut Berlin from 2007 to 2012.
