Biography
Los Romeros de la Puebla was a Spanish ensemble from La Puebla del RÃo established in 1968. The group performed sevillanas, pasodobles, and rumbas. The original lineup consisted of José Manuel Moya, Juan DÃaz, José Angulo, Faustino Cabello, and Manuel Cabello. The band released its debut studio recording, Sevillanas, through Hispavox in 1968. The ensemble released an album annually and produced thematic works including Misa de alba en las marismas (1978). In 2006, the SGAE awarded the group three diamond discs for sales of 3 million copies. The ensemble appeared in the Carlos Saura film Sevillanas and the Salvador Távora play Mayorales. The band received the Medalla de las Artes de AndalucÃa in 2024. Manuel Cabello died in 2011, and the group became inactive later that year. Faustino Cabello and Juan DÃaz are also deceased.
