Biography

Los Fugitivos, originally known as Grupo Kariño, were formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, California by brothers Jaime and Edi Espinoza. In 1991, with the addition of singer-guitarist Roberto Nieto, the group rebranded as Los Fugitivos. Their initial success came from covers such as "Esperando Por Ti", a Spanish-language version of Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting". In 1993, they achieved their biggest hit with José Luis Perales' "La Loca", which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. The band released their debut album under the new name, Corazón Gitano, in 1990. Throughout their career, Los Fugitivos recorded ten albums, earning seven gold records and two platinum albums. Notable members included Miguel Angel Galarza, Sergio Galarza, Mario Jimenez, Marco Pedroza, and Mario Alberto Oritz. The band's lineup changed over the years, with key departures including Roberto Nieto (1988–1999) and Edi Espinoza (1985–2010).
