Los Chavales de España, a vocal group from Barcelona, Spain, was formed in 1941 by 11 young musicians. Notable members included Luis Tamayo, Pepe Lara, Félix Caballero, José Antonio Enguix, and Luis Bona. Initially known as Orquesta Gran Casino, they secured a contract in Havana, Cuba, and renamed themselves to avoid confusion with other orchestras. They debuted at the Tropicana club in 1948 and became popular in Cuban cabarets. The group participated in the film Hotel de muchachas (1950) and toured the United States in 1952, performing at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City and appearing on shows like The Ed Sullivan Show and The Red Skelton Show. Their repertoire included over 400 songs such as "España cañÃ" and "Si vas a Calatayud". The group disbanded in 1982 after a long career that spanned various continents.
