Formed in The Bronx, New York in 1996, Lord Tariq And Peter Gunz is a rap/hip-hop duo formed by Sean âLord Tariqâ Hamilton and Peter âPeter Gunzâ Pankey. Originally known as The Gunrunners, the duo collaborated with Whodini on their album Six (1996), co-writing two tracks and appearing on a third, âCanât Get Enoughâ. While working as a duo, the two rappers continued to work on outside projects. Gunz worked with basketball legend-turned-rapper Shaquille OâNeal on his albums You Canât Stop the Reign (1996) and Respect (1998). Meanwhile, Lord Tariq collaborated with Jay-Z and Nas on the single âAnalyze Thisâ (1998). Lord Tariq and Peter Gunzâs first single as a duo was âDéjà vu (Uptown Baby)â, released in December, 1997. The single reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The duo released their debut album, Make It Reign, in 1998. The album reached Number 38 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and Number 8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Make It Reign included guest features from Big Pun, Fat Joe, Kurupt, Camâron, and Sticky Fingaz. Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz split up in 1999.
