Longwave is an American indie rock band formed in 1999 by guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Steve Schiltz, guitarist Shannon Ferguson, bassist David Marchese, and drummer Jeremy Greene, originating from Rochester, Newâ¯York. The groupâs early breakthrough came with the selfâproduced EP Endsongs (2000) on LunaSea Records, followed by the singles "Exit" and "Pool Song" (2002) on Hummer, which established their presence in the Newâ¯York City rock scene. In 2002 they signed with RCA Records and released the album The Strangest Things (2002), produced by Dave Fridmann, and the single "Everywhere You Turn" (2003) that received national airplay; the band toured with The Strokes and The Vines. There's a Fire (2005), produced by John Leckie, saw lineup changes with Nic Brown on drums and Jeff Sheinkopf on keyboards. Subsequent releases included the album Secrets Are Sinister (2008) on Original Signal Recordings, accompanied by a national tour with Blue October. After a hiatus, Longwave reâformed in 2018, releasing the single "Stay With Me" (2018) and "Dreamers Float Away" (2019) on Bodan Kuma, and the fifth album If We Ever Live Forever (2019), continuing their contribution to the US alternative rock landscape.
