Biography

Arthur Duncan, also known as Little Arthur Duncan, was born on February 5, 1934, in Indianola, Mississippi, and was an American Chicago blues and electric blues harmonica player, singer, and songwriter. He initially played drums before moving to Chicago in 1950, where he learned the harmonica under the guidance of Little Walter. Initially, accompanying Earl Hooker, John Brim, and Floyd Jones, he became part of the Backscratchers and established himself around Chicago. His career took a significant leap when he recorded Bad Reputation in 1989 on the Blues King label. In 1999, he released Singin' with the Sun for Delmark Records, accompanied by guitarists Billy Flynn and Eddie Taylor Jr. His final recording was Live at Rosa's Blues Lounge, released in 2007, which showcased his spirited performances of classic blues tunes such as Jimmy Reed’s "Pretty Thing" and Howlin’ Wolf’s "No Place to Go". He passed away on August 20, 2008, due to complications following brain surgery.
