Joe Asselin, an American Chicago blues and electric blues guitarist, harmonicist, and songwriter, was born in 1977 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He became a central figure in the Champaign, Illinois music scene after moving there in 1998 to join the Kilborn Alley Blues Band,. Asselin contributed songwriting and harmonica to the groupâs Blues Music Award-nominated albums Put It in the Alley (2006) and Tear Chicago Down (2007). After a brief hiatus starting in 2010, Asselin joined the Sugar Prophets, reaching the Top 8 finals at the International Blues Challenge in 2011. He later performed with the William Marsala Blues Band before releasing his solo acoustic debut album, Blue Genes, in 2016,. In 2018, Asselin signed with Nashville Entertainment Weekly Records and released the EP Flat Head Ford. He continued his career and formed the duo The Black Eyed Lillies with Lindsay Lilly, representing the Illinois Central Blues Club at the 2020 International Blues Challenge.
