Biography

Formed in 2004 in Oakland, California, Lionheart combined elements of hardcore punk and heavy metal into a uniquely aggressive, rhythmic sound. The band introduced this musical hybrid with a debut EP, This Means War, in 2006, then returned the following year with a full-length follow-up, The Will to Survive. After signing with the heavy metal label Mediaskare Records, Lionheart released Built on Struggle in early 2011 and Undisputed in 2012. The 2014 EP Welcome to the West Coast was followed by the band's fourth album, Love Don't Live Here, in 2016. Although both the title track and "Pain" were released as singles, tensions within the Lionheart camp had reached a breaking point, and the band announced its breakup that spring. A farewell tour followed, with the band playing shows in Serbia, Greece, and Germany. Ultimately, Lionheart's split proved to be very short-lived, with the group reuniting in 2017 for Welcome to the West Coast II. Following the release of Valley of Death in 2019, the band took a brief break to accommodate the COVID-19 pandemic, then returned to the road in 2022 to promote Welcome to the West Coast III. The album reinforced the band's popularity in Germany, where it charted at Number 55.
