Biography

Liederjan, a North German folk group, was formed in 1975. Initially known as Tramps & Hawkers, they shifted their focus to German folk music. The trio consisted of Anselm Noffke, Jörg Ermisch, and Jochen Wiegandt. The group released their debut album Live Aus Der Fabrik - Deutsche Volkslieder Aus 5 Jahrhunderten in 1976. Liederjan gained recognition for reviving almost forgotten German folk songs and incorporating some unusual plucked and bowed instruments and harmony vocals into their performances. They won the German Kleinkunstpreis in 1985 and the Garchinger Kleinkunstmaske in 1991. Despite the passing of Anselm Noffke in 2003, the group continued with new members, including Hanne Balzer and Philip Omlor. Liederjan celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2015. The band announced in 2025 that its 50th anniversary year would serve as the band's farewell year.
