Les Filles de Illighadad is a Saharan blues band from Niger, founded by Fatou Seidi Ghali. The group originated in Illighadad, a village in the Sahara Desert between Tahoua and Agadez regions. Traditionally, women Tuareg musicians did not play the guitar, but Ghali became the first woman to do so professionally. In 2014, Christopher Kirkley of Sahel Sounds discovered them through a homemade video and offered to record their debut album Les Filles de Illighadad, released in 2016. Following this release, they embarked on European tours. Their second album, Eghass Malan, was released in 2017. In 2019, they toured the United States and collaborated on "Soulan" from Acid Arab's Jdid. They have performed at notable festivals including Primavera de Bourges, Sydney Festival, and Toronto's International Jazz Festival. Their live album Les Filles de Illighadad at Pioneer Works was released in 2021.
