Born in Brazzaville, Congo, on August 24, 1988, Joyce N'sana grew up in a family open to music: her father Jean-Claude was a songwriter and her mother a church choir member. Naturally, she joined the choir at the age of ten, singing gospel and experimenting with public performances. At the age of 17, she arrived in France to study Applied Foreign Languages in Orleans, despite her main desire for a musical career. She joined an Afrosoul group with whom she gained confidence on stage. After moving to Montreal in 2006, she was spotted at the Syli d'or, winning 1st prize at Mondomix. Little by little, she refined her Afrobluehop style, a blend of blues and hip-hop, and unveiled her first EP Odessa (2016), which reached No. 1 on the World music sales charts in Canada. Launched, her participation in La Voix in 2017 brought her to the attention of the general public and increased her audience. With her second EP Obosso, released in 2019, the singer develops her music around her favorite themes: the female condition, faith or freedom. Influenced as much by Billie Holiday and Bob Marley as Angélique Kidjo and Tupac, Joyce N'sana's talent has been recognized by Radio-Canada, which named her révélation 2021-2022.
