Biography

Leonardo Antonio Aguilar Álvarez Alcalá, known simply as Leonardo Aguilar, is a Mexican singer born on August 15, 1999, in Mexico City. He is part of La Dinastía Aguilar (The Aguilar Dynasty), a prominent musical family. His father is the renowned Mexican singer Pepe Aguilar, and his grandparents are legendary Mexican singer-actors Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre. He began his music career at a young age, frequently touring with his father and his younger sister, Ángela Aguilar, who is also a singer. In 2012, at just twelve years old, Leonardo Aguilar made his debut with the LP Nueva Tradición, recorded alongside Ángela. This album featured four songs by each of them. On December 2, 2016, Leonardo released his first solo album, Gallo Fino, produced by his father, Pepe Aguilar. The album includes collaborations with notable Mexican artists such as Espinoza Paz and El Chapo de Sinaloa. Gallo Fino earned a nomination for Best Norteño Album at the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2017. Additionally, his song "Compromiso Descartado" was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song. Over the following years, he followed this success with the albums Y Lo Volví a Hacer (2023) and Soy Como Quiero Ser (2024), a tribute album to Mexican singer-songwriter Joan Sebastian. The LP featured a duet with his father Pepe on the single "Bandido de Amores," which peaked at number 36 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
