Biography

Lena Valaitis, real name Anelė Luise Jüssen, was born on September 7, 1943 in Memel (now Klaipėda, Lithuania). After the Second World War, she grew up in West Germany and began her musical career in 1970 with the single "Halt das Glück für uns fest". In 1971, she achieved her first chart success with "Ob es so oder so oder anders kommt" (number 26). Further successful titles followed, including "So wie ein Regenbogen" (1973, number 23) and "Ein schöner Tag" (1976, number 11). She celebrated her greatest success in 1981 with "Johnny Blue", the German entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, which took second place and reached number 9 in the German charts. After a break, she returned in 2001 with the song "Ich lebe für den Augenblick" and released the album Liebe ist ... in 2010, which reached number 74 in the German album charts. Her last album Meine Sprache ist die Musik was released in 2018. Lena Valaitis ends her career in 2020.
